6th Grade
Foreign Language Exploratory
1/4 Unit- 6th grade exploratory elective
One-quarter elective
The Exploratory language unit is designed to give students an opportunity to
experience the study of French and Spanish. This rotation helps them make
informed decisions about future language study. Students are introduced to two
of the languages taught in the Grosse Pointe Public Schools Modern and Classical
Language Department and their related peoples and cultures. Exploratory students
gain some practical experience in French and Spanish, study elementary sounds
and expressions in those languages, and learn some basic vocabulary within a
conversational setting. Students further their language skills through
interactions with diverse technologies that may include videos, slides, audio
materials, Internet sites in French/Spanish, language-learning software, and
other technology-infused projects.
