I grew up in (historic) Marshall, Mi.;
home of Win Schuler's, restored Victorian
houses, and Cornwall's Turkey Farm. My
high school had about 1100 students in it
and I graduated with a class of 260. My
favorite subjects were Art, Photography,
and Science. I wasn't too fond of Social
Studies. I was a relatively good student
and active in many of after school clubs
and organizations. Unfortunately there
were only 2 girls sports teams when I was
in high school. I was too short for
basketball and was a member of the
gymnastics team. My big sport was serving
as the female mascot cheerleader. (I
think this is where I developed my loud
teaching voice.)
After making the statement in college
that I would never get married, never
teach, and never live in the Detroit
area, I ate my words (and gave up saying
"never"). I moved to Detroit,
began teaching in Grosse Pointe, and got
married a few years later. My husband,
Tom is a fellow artist and works as a
design engineer for Daimler Chrysler. We
have 3 cats; (Botti)Celli, Raphael, and
Leo(nardo).
Besides various arts, my main interests
are tennis, gardening, traveling, and
collecting fast food toys. I also love to
ski, both water and snow, but I don't get
much opportunity to do either these days.
I spend as much time as I can at our
family summer cottage on Crystal Lake,
near Beulah, Mi. My favorite type of
music is Motown, my favorite color is
magenta or turquoise, and my favorite
animals are hippos and flamingos. The
thing that I hate the most is dishonesty
and the thing that I love the most is
laughter. If I hadn't gone into teaching
as a career, I would have become and ER
doctor or a veternarian.
