Criteria for writing Science Article Reviews
- Highlight

- Write
a summary.
- Summarize
in your own words.
- Use
about 10 sentences at minimum to give the main facts of the article. (The
“Who, What, When, Where, Why and How” of the news piece.).
- Do not put direct quotes in
the summary.
- Write
a Reflection.
- It
must consist, at least, of seven sentences.
- This
may be an opinion on a controversial issue (Ex: Converting a lakefront
park from a previous nuclear power plant site.), or it may be simply
stating your thoughts on what you read.
- What
ever you write in your reflection you must include a direct quote (and give the expert’s name and
credentials – if article provides them) to validate what you just wrote.
- You
must include a statistic
which also enriches your written reflection.
