Welcome to Figure Drawing 2007
Figure Drawing – Mrs. Forrest
Class Objectives:
- Students will learn about
the proper proportions of the face and body.
- Students will learn about
a variety of media including, pencil, paint, crayon, ink, collage and printing
and apply them with controlled application to develop finished compositions.
- Students will use problem
solving to seek and explore ideas that will be guided by personal, historical,
contemporary, cultural, environmental or economic issues to guide their visual
discipline.
- The elements of art
(shape, line, form, value, color, texture, space) and principles of design
(balance, rhythm/repetition, emphasis, unity, movement, contrast) will be
studied and applied to compositions.
- Students will apply
techniques, principles and concepts to communicate ideas with the intent to
demonstrate finished work for an audience (art shows).
- Students will study,
observe, reflect upon and analyze visual arts and find the connections with
other disciplines and society.
Unit One
Prepare
backgrounds for sketchbook and learn about a variety of media and learn about
the face proportions.
Study
figurative relief prints and learn about drawing onto lino soft cut materials
with a cutting tool for print production.
Unit Two
Gesture
drawing and contour drawing practices will lead into a variety of finished
drawings.
Unit Three
The
figure will be represented traditionally with a full range of values. Students
will work for accuracy in the figure and compositional setting.
Unit Four
Contemporary
and historical issues will be represented through a drawing that builds drawing
skills with a personal message.
