Helping Your Child Succeed
 |
Punctuality is an important
life skill. It needs to be taught to the child by example. Parents
should be organized and ready to go too! It is very important that your
child come to school ready to learn. This includes being on time.
The morning tardy bell rings at 8:25. Your child should be in line, on the
playground by 8:15. This gives classmates a chance to "visit" with their
friends before they enter the building. If your child is going home for
lunch (11:34) please pick them up at the office door and have them return to the
playground upon arrival to school. The end of lunch tardy bell rings at
12:29. Students are dismissed for the day at 3:38.

To help your child begin to
manage his/her morning routine, you may choose to use a timer or a favorite CD.
By the time the first song ends, your child should have brushed his/her teeth.
When the third song is over, he/she should be dressed. After these goals have
been achieved and become routine, you may wish to add an additional
responsibility like bed-making.
|
 |
Have a set bedtime routine.
Ask your child which special they will be attending the following day. Set
aside the necessary items (P.E. shoes, library books, snacks).
|
 |
Your child's Dexter
folder should be emptied each evening and returned to school each morning.
The folder may contain your child's work for the day, homework, school notices and letters/notes from me.
|
 |
Please be sure children know
what they are doing for lunch (hot #1-hot#5, cold, home).
