The GPT-Grosse Pointe Telescope

the GPT was designed and built by the rats it is a 18 foot parabolic dish. we are set up to receive the 21cm. radio wave at 1420 MHz. in other words we are receiving radio waves from space that are 21cm in length. as the radio waves come from space they are reflected off the dish into the front end. From the front end they pass through the LNA or Low Noise Amplifier, then into a IF converter, down to the back end located in the coffin (the gray box under the telescope) The coffin also holds 2 computers one running Microsoft XP and the other running DOS. The XP computer is used for logging the data and the DOS computer is for the movement of the telescope. there are 2 motors in the coffin one for altitude and the other for azimuth.

In the picture above you can see Bartos Dailey and Feldpausch giving a presentation to the warren astronomical society.
