The Cranson Field Scholarship
The Michigan Earth Science Teachers Association is committed to the motto of "Teachers Helping Teachers" learn and teach Earth Science. Named after Rod Cranson, a founding member who organized the first MESTA summer field conference, scholarships are awarded to recognize educators new to Earth Science and help fund up to $1000 worth of travel expenses associated with field conference attendance. Since their inception, MESTA summer field conferences have provided Earth Science teachers with first-hand experience, valuable classroom resources, and inspired teachers to create exciting lessons for their students.
Past MESTA Summer Field Conferences have included:
| Superior Experience (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) | |
| Southwest Astronomy (Arizona, New Mexico) | |
| Oregon Volcanic Trail (Washington, Oregon, California) | |
| Fossils (Alpena, MI) | |
| Caving (Indiana) |
