Dear Kindergarten Families: This will be the last newsletter, so Id like to take this space to say thank you for a wonderful year. Your children make me laugh and learn all year, and I become a better teacher each time a new class passes through the doors. You are a great group of supportive and friendly parents. Keep up the good work! Notes: - No Centers for the last two weeks! Thank you center helpers! - I could use some help in putting the memory books together this week. It involves, laminating, trimming, and binding books. - I could also use help on Monday, June 8 untangling the headphones after their last computer lab class. AM lab time ends at 9:30 am; PM lab time ends at 3:00 pm. - Still would appreciate my folder parents through Monday, June 8. The folders will be yours to keep when they come home on Monday, 6/8. Luau: Our Kindergarten Luau on Tuesday, June 9 will be a lot of fun, rain or shine. A little different this year will be the hours as follows for BOTH the AM and PM together: 10:00 a.m. Both classes arrive and meet in the classroom for directions 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon Small groups travel through 8 fun activity stations 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Picnic with families 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Little awards ceremony for AM Class on the lawn (or classroom) - PM class can continue picnicking or play in playground with adult supervision 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Little awards ceremony for PM Class on the lawn (or classroom) - AM class can continue picnic, play in the playground, or be dismissed home with family 2:00 p.m. All children are dismissed with families. Please be sure to let me know if a family member cannot be present at the picnic/ceremony. I am very thankful to our Room Parents, Mrs. McCloskey, Mrs. Payne, Mrs. Broad and Mrs. Seagram, who have done a wonderful job in communicating, organizing, and handling the activities for that day to be sure our kids have a memorable end-of-year party. Thank you to all of the families who will be helping with the party and for all the donations of food, drinks, and fun. All family members are welcome to picnic with us from 12 noon to about 2:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the school (or in the lobby and classroom if rain). Remember to bring your dish to pass and a picnic blanket to spread on the grass. Any dads that come will get a special Fathers Day present to wear! Summer: I will send home some activity pages and several math workbooks that were not used in class that you may want to do with your child to keep up their skills over the summer. When we see how far each child progresses in the 3 months between cardmarkings, you have to wonder how far they can go in the summer when given opportunities to continue learning. Remember, not just academically, but also socially and in general life skills. Family time together is so important and offer valuable life lessons in this fast-paced world, where children grow up so fast. Upcoming dates: - Monday, 6/1 - Bring in a cylinder - Tuesday, 6/2 - Bring in a rectangular prism - June 2 We take a short visit through the first grade classrooms. - June 9 Kindergarten Party Luau at school - June 10 Last Day for PM Class raffle off the class books. - June 11 Last Day for AM Class clean up classroom and raffle off class books. Have a safe and happy summer! Mrs. Richards J
