-          Absences: Students are expected to observe the rules in the Grosse Pointe South High School Student Code of Conduct.  Students will not be allowed to make up the work and will not receive credit for any assignments if their absence is recorded as unexcused.

-          Participation:  Students are expected to participate in class on a regular basis. Students earn points by answering or asking questions, volunteering and using their Spanish skills.  Students can lose points for misconduct and tardies.

-          Homework:  Homework should be expected each day.  It is due at the beginning of class and WILL NOT be accepted late.

-          Make-Up Work:  It is the student’s responsibility to obtain any class notes and to make up all missed work upon returning from an absence.  Make-up work will be accepted at full credit for any excused absences, within 3 days of returning to school.  All make up work can be picked up in class in the “Make-Up Work Pickup” folder.  All make-up work is to be turned in to the teacher.  Make-up quizzes and tests must be taken either before school, after school or during lunch.

In cases of extended absences for vacations or family emergencies, if possible, please speak with me prior to the absence so I can prepare the work ahead of time.  This will help your child keep up with the class and not fall behind.

-          Student Athletes:  Students with early dismissal for sporting events are responsible for getting their assignments earlier that day.  Their homework is due the same day as the rest of the class.  If students are dismissed from class early on the day of a test or quiz, they must make arrangements to take the test/quiz before their absence.

-          Copying/Cheating:  All students involved in copying/cheating or allowing another student to copy/cheat will receive NO CREDIT for the assignment.

-          Online Translators:  Students are encouraged to use http://wordreference.com as they would use a dictionary to look up single words only.  Using other online translators to translate whole phrases, sentences and paragraphs is not advised and students will be required to redo the assignment.  The “redo” is allowed only once, and each assignment thereafter will not receive credit.

-          Grades:  Students will be graded on their achievements and effort on all assignments.  Assignments in this course include participation, homework, quizzes, tests and projects.  Each homework assignment is worth 5 points.  Homework is not accepted late but students can earn partial credit for attempting portions of an assignment (0-5 points).

The grading scale is:

          99-100%    A+            77-79%    C+
