Be a Bee!

Ideas
Writing contains at least one complete event. Writing indicates setting. Possibly the student selects to write about how his / her friends respond to their new BEE friend. This story may include emotional responses to bees and their formidable stinger, and yet from the BEE’s perspective, the vital role that bees play in the whole pollination process. The event described my detail the allergic reaction people have to bee stings. Or the student may tell a story about what he ate for lunch as a bee, and how this eating was so very different from his school friends’ eating habits. The descriptions may include—the taste and stickiness of the nectar and the packing and transport of pollen.

Organization
Writing contains a beginning, middle, and end.

Sentences
Story is interesting because it has a variety of sentence lengths or different kinds of sentences.

Word Choice
Writing uses action words that keep the reader interested. Many words stem from plant science and may include—stinger, insect parts, invertebrate, allergic reactions, flower parts—pistil, stamen, pollen, pollination… etc.

Convention
Spelling, punctuation and paragraphing are accurate.
