EARTH'S SURFACE
The core, mantle and crust make up the three
layers of the Earth. The crust is the outermost layer. A variety
of compounds are found in the earth's crust. As a result of
weathering, the minerals from rocks are found in the earth's
crust. A major portion of the earth's crust is the ocean floor
making it difficult to study. The crust is composed mostly of
inorganic minerals and rocks. The crust is the source of nearly
all nonrenewable resources we use--fossil fuels, metals and
nonmetals. The crust is also the source of all the elements that
make up our bodies. The crust is also the source of soil.
