It has been hard, but the heart itself has pumped right along

Heart disease in one form or another affects over a million Americans every year. As technologies advance, people have the opportunity to live longer, with the assistance of certain devices implanted specific to their needs. Some people may even go on to live normal lives, not being bedridden in order to keep them in a state we consider alive.
My intent of research on the heart has helped me further understand how the heart works, in order to design and develop a heart assist device that is fully implantable, and needs no change, or recharging of batteries, so the patients can live as normal and natural a life as possible. One of the things I will be investigating is the possibility of using kinetic energy as a source.
