We will be meeting after school periodically to help increase the amount of studio time available to you for making art. Look for dates and times to be posted below as we move into Fall. Each student needs to bring their own supplies to these sessions.  Keeping a small tool box with your supplies in them is very smart. Maintain your own brushes, paints, pencils, pastels, etc.

Your box of supplies may include:

Dry drawing media:

• set of drawing pencils (or a number 2 pencil if you can’t afford all the different kinds 4h, 2h, hb, 2b, 3b, 4b)
• set of pastels (the softer the better, but these can be very expensive - student grade is fine for starting out)
• charcoal stick
• charcoal pencil

Wet drawing media:

• small bottle of ink, small water color brush, bamboo pen (if you want)
• student grade water color set (or professional cakes or wet in tube colors if you like)
• water color paper block (very convenient - but a bit expensive)

Painting supplies

• Oil paints in tubes (or acrylic if you prefer)
• yellow, blue, red, burnt sienna, burnt umber, etc. I usually buy a couple yelllows and a couple blues to mix it up a bit like I’ll buy ultramarine and pthalo blues for example.  In the red and yellows I try to buy a cadmium if I can afford it. Look at the color swatches at the art store and try to get colors that look as close to what you think a pure primary is because you will be using these to mix your secondary colors. If you are making landscapes
• Oil or acrylic painting brushes (label these as your own)
• assorted sizes from size 1 to 10
• Watercolor paints, paper, and brushes (remember to keep watercolor brushes separate from your oil brushes, they are not the same!!)
