Espaņol II

Spanish 2 is for beginning learners of the Spanish Language who have successfully completed Spanish 1 or the equivalent.  We will focus on listening, reading, writing, and speaking in Spanish.  Assessment will vary from traditional tests and quizzes to alternative forms such as listening comprehension exercises, individual and group work, skits or presentations.  All forms of assessment will reflect what has been taught in class.  Students will learn cultural information of the Spanish-speaking world to enhance and complement their knowledge of the language.  Participation is crucial to each student's success in this class.  One must use Spanish to learn Spanish.  All students will be responsible for a portfolio of their work.
Materials must be brought to class every day: textbooks with a protective cover, paper or notebook, pen or pencil, completed homework assignment, participation sheet, partner map, and any other ancillary materials.  Not being prepared for class may result in a loss of points.
Homework must be turned in on time.  Homework will
not be accepted late.  All students will have at least six partners to choose from that they should contact to bring them copies of assignments missed.  Pop quizzes will be given frequently, therefore, make sure to keep up with the homework.
Make-up work: Provided that the absence is excused, late work will be accepted.  Students absent for a long period of time should contact me at school for their assignments.  Students are given two days to make up work for each day missed. If there is a problem or conflict, get in touch with me and we will devise a plan so that the work can be handed in.
Group projects must be turned in
on time.  All members of the group shall be responsible for their share of the work.  Group members should take down each member's phone number to contact each other in the case of an absence or emergency.  If a student knows that s/he will be absent, I must be informed before the due date of the project, not on the due date, nor afterward.
Tardiness: We will adhere to the tardy policy set forth by Grosse Pointe North.  Tardiness will not be tolerated since there is ample time (7 minutes) to arrive on time to your classes.  If tardy, you will stay after class for a
minimum of one minute. Additionally, excessive tardiness will also result in detentions to be served with me. Excessive tardiness includes, but is not limited to the following:
1. Two or more tardies in a five-day period.
2. A noticeable pattern of tardiness.
Remember that being 6 minutes tardy is an unexcused absence according to the school attendance policy.  Never let anyone tell you that you don't need a pass.  You do!
Anyone arriving late WITH or WITHOUT a pass, must sign in!!!
